Longer, thicker lashes for cheap? We will see…

Posted by: hannaheliska on: February 9, 2010

I have always desired long, dark full lashes. I adore the way long lashes look and I have applied falsies for years now. So I have starting a mission to find a product that won’t break the bank and that will deliver results.  There are many products out there that claim to give you “longer thicker lashes” but they cost a fortune. So I did some research on my own and came across a product called Ardell Lash and Brow Excel. I purchased it from Sally’s Beauty Supply for about 15 bucks. I began to use it about 3 days ago. After I take my make up off and wash my face at night, I simply brush it on my upper eyelid (where you would put eyeliner) and along all of my lashes (like mascara). While I am using it I will not be curling my eyelashes and I am trying not to use mascara as much. Hopefully this will allow the product to nourish like it is intended to. I will continue using this product until it is gone and will share the results and you can expect before and after pictures as well!!

Four recession-proof Valentine’s day ideas

I know I am not the only girlfriend suffering in this economy. For years I have always made a big ordeal for  V day but this year I sadly admit, I will not be able to follow through with my usual celebration. First of all, I am still recovering from Christmas! Secondly, my boyfriend is also suffering from this economy. So we have decided to keep things pretty low key this year. But everyone still wants to feel loved and special on Valentine’s day right? Well I have a few ideas for couples in similar situations. (And I tried not making these reasonable and not too corny.)

  • Have a picnic together. I know this is a traditional idea, but I will never grow out of picnic. They are a good way to bond with one another, and it is free! Pack some snacks and lunches and spend the day together at a park or wherever you choose to go. The day is about the two of you.
  • Stay home and watch movies. The cost of going to the movies is unreal these days. Why not get your own popcorn and watch a few movies neither one of you have seen? Snuggle up, eat some popcorn and enjoy each others company, even if the movies are bad.
  • Write your significant other a poem, love note or letter letting them know your feelings. Valentines day makes it hard to be excited for things like this with the advertisements of jewelry, bears, chocolates and flowers, but it is surprising how much more something from the heart means.
  • Make a photo album or memory box of your relationship. We all keep those little trinkets, movie tickets and pictures. What better day to put it all together than Valentines day? Again, something from the heart can mean so much more than a box of chocolates.

This year has been hard on everyone in someway or another, but there is no reason for Valentine’s day not to be special. These are just a few ideas to keep the spark on this day without allowing your bank account to suffer.

TIGI After Party Review

Posted by: hannaheliska on: February 8, 2010

This product is a miracle worker! I have always had issues with fly aways, frizz and dry hair. The minute I used this product, I noticed a huge difference. What caught my attention about this product was its neon pink packaging. The bottle is very user-friendly and allows you to see exactly how much is left. I am always excited to try new products and this was did not let me down. After straightening my hair I use about a dime size amount of this product, rub in both my hands and run it though all of my hair and I am ready to go!! This leaves my hair silky smooth for the whole day. The best part is that it does not take much to get this effect and it will not leave your hair greasy or filmy. This product is a little high-priced for my budget (about $14.99) but it absolutely worth every penny and you do not have to use much at once so it will last a long time!
